Our annual Haiti fundraiser is starting soon (March 23 - March 30). Students will be encouraged to find ways to help the people in Haiti. Students have already learned that Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Students at Sparta Middle School have been raising money for Haiti for the past eight years. Over this time, students have raised $13,144.85 for Haiti. There are two main organizations that our efforts support. The first is the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Through UMCOR, we support the Haiti Hot Lunch Program. The second organization that we support is Pure Water for the World. This organization manufactures and installs bio sand water filters in Haiti. Below are two links that explain what these two programs are doing in Haiti.
